Facebook Memories are a funny thing. Sometimes funny, often cringeworthy (I was an angsty teenager to the extreme – seriously, how did any of you put up with me?), but most of the time I have NO idea what I was talking about. For example:
or take for example this classic:
Apparently, I also saw wolves while driving to PA in 2011 and 70% of my posts in college were about Arabic. #truestory
My Facebook Memories have doubly confirmed that New Years Eve/Day has never been a major holiday for me, but it is a point for reflection and planning. Over the past few weeks, I’ve come up with some goals for 2018 (both personal and professional). Since sharing your goals make you more accountable to actually completing them, I thought I’d share them here – help me keep on track in 2018!
Get a killer GMAT score – Surprise! I’m applying to business school this fall. Scores aren’t everything, but they’re a pretty good test of interest and preparation. While I used to be a huge nerd who actually liked taking standardized tests, my first practice test demonstrated that it has been a looooong time since I’ve had to do any kind of maths – especially without scratch paper. This will be a major focus for me this spring, as I plan to take the test before summer.
Blog more! – Looking back, 2017 was a pretty rough year for this blog. I only had 5 posts – yikes. There were a bunch of reasons – travel, grief, and a corresponding burst of YOLO being the primary three. I want 2018 to be different though, so let’s start things off with a bang, shall we?
Actually join a gym/work out – 2017 started so strong with this! But then we were traveling. And moving. Sick. Camping. Unpacking. More traveling. You get the idea. The final nail in the coffin was when our office went back to an 8:30am start at the beginning of the school year. Our summer hours are 9am-5pm and not having that extra half hour just killed me this fall. With Randall now biking to work I’ve lost my workout buddy, but he’s inspired me to get my butt in gear this year.
Learn to love biking – Ok, very related to the above. Randall became a bike nerd in 2017 and we’re now the proud owners of 3 bikes… for 2 people. He likes to say 2 and a half bikes since one is a folding bike, but still. I’ll be completely upfront that I plan on being a fair weather biker only, but I’m excited to get more into it once spring comes.
Do you have any goals for the year? Share them in the comments below and let’s keep each other accountable!
